Richland Township, or Richland lies 18-23 miles north of the city and was predominantly rural wooded and open farmland with small, local stores and restaurants until the past two decades. It has developed rapidly and is now the location of many new home construction in planned subdivisions which has driven an increase in median home value. The schools are in the excellent districts of Pine-Richland or Mars School District.
